O2 seewhatwecando to protect our children

We're working with you to protect your children

Mobile phones play a big part in many young people's lives. They have loads of different uses - from chatting and swapping messaging with friends, to surfing the web and taking pictures - so it's easy to see why young people love them. Mobiles are also great for parents, because they enable you to stay in close contact with your children when they are out and about.

This website has lots of useful facts and practical advice about today's mobile phones and what parents can do to help keep their children safe. Some of the information you will find on the site has been included in a brochure we have produced. You can see

The first and most important thing to do is make sure that you talk to your child about the best ways to avoid problems. We recommend that you agree some safety tips with your children before they get started. That way, you will feel more relaxed when they are using their phone.

O2 recognises the importance of media literacy and is committed to helping our customers get the most from new mobile media content and communications technologies. This includes offering advice about the ways that children can become better protected from risks in an online environment.

Safety in numbers

We can’t watch over our children every moment of every day. But we’re working on ways to help protect them, and to make mobiles a worry-free zone for parents, teachers and anyone else who has responsibility for looking after children.

For one thing, we’ve teamed up with Childnet International, who are experts in child internet safety. And we’ve set up the services listed on the right. Parents can call or text anytime, and you can click on these links to see what advice to give to customers.

We've made a handy little card with all the numbers for our child protection services on it - so you'll be able to remember 'safety in numbers' wherever you go. We're giving the cards out in store to parents, teachers and anyone else who looks after children, but you can download a digital version here.
